 Our funeral home was established in 1898 when our predecessor, Bower
Funeral Home, was located on Central Avenue in Kearney. Through the
years we have been known for our attention to detail and for the care we
provide to our families. O'Brien-Straatmann Funeral Home and Cremations
is owned and operated by Stephen O'Brien and Gary Straatmann, both
natives of Kearney.We take pride in
being a leader in the Kearney area in establishing programs that assist
the families before, during and after the funeral process. We are the
first funeral home in the Kearney area to offer grief support to all
families in transition. This includes our support group and our after-care
program that assists families with cares and concerns after the funeral.
To better serve our families, we have built a new 9000 sq. ft. facility
near the Kearney Cemetery. This facility incorporates ample off-street
parking, chapel seating for up to 300 people, a community room for funeral
lunches, state of the art audio and video systems with internet
capabilities and a drive-through garage for immediate families during
inclement weather.
Our services are free of charge for infants.
